Inverter

How does an inverter work


              An inverter converts DC power supply to an AC power supply with the help of an electronic circuit. An inverter can be used as a backup power supply to use while a power failure happens, Inverter charges a battery using ac mains and stores electricity in the form of DC voltage. When a power failure occurs the inverter converts the stored DC voltage into AC voltage to power up your electric circuits.

              An inverter continuously switches on and off the dc power passing through transformers primary winding and produces desired high voltage in the output of secondary winding, The transformer used here is a step up transformer. (normally 12v to 110v/230v)
 An oscillator circuit produces sine wave (50hz or 60hz depending on the country standards.) 
and fed to the switching circuit connected to the primary winding of the transformer. When the sine wave passes through the circuit it switches on, off and changes the polarity of the 12v battery supply to the primary winding of the transformer and induced a high voltage in the secondary.

              Before you buy an inverter you have to calculate the load in watts which will be connected to it. If you buy an inverter having a capacity of 1000watts you can use the only 800watt at a time.
The backup time you get is depending upon the inverter battery capacity (Ah) and connected load.




Check the battery electrolyte level at regular intervals
